Lots of Exciting and Interesting Stuff Happening with the Team at Schleese Saddlery and Saddlefit 4 Life!
Of course, the most exciting thing in recent weeks was the Pan Am team gold medal and the individual silver medal won by Tina Irwin from Canada – a long time Schleese sponsored rider and a huge fan of her custom made Obrigado saddle. We congratulate Tina and are honoured to be part of the ‘circle of influence’ around her and Laurencio! As an added bonus, PBS (Information Matrix starring Laurence Fishburne) was recently at our Holland Landing facility filming an educational vignette for their programming, which included a sidebar visit as well to the Irwin’s Stoney Lake Equestrian riding facility in nearby Stouffville. It was lovely to be able to feature both Tina and Jaimey Irwin as part of the filming as well – and her Pan Am medals!
Certified Master Saddler and Saddle Ergonomist Jochen Schleese will be a featured guest presenter at the annual ISES (International Society of Equitation Sciences Conference) being held next week at the University of Guelph. He will be speaking on the Myths of Saddle Fitting as well as doing a demo with horses on the 9 Points of Saddle Fit.
The online Saddlefit 4 Life Academy goes live this Friday, August 16 for students wishing to continue their professional development as equine ergonomists along with additional short, free and affiliate courses. The theoretical part of the curriculum will be available for completion online, with onsite practicums being scheduled several times a year at various locations around USA and Canada (as well as in Europe, South Africa and Australia!) This makes the courses more accessible to any rider or equine professional wishing to increase their knowledge on saddle fit and how equine and human anatomy and biomechanics can influence it. In the interest of reducing our carbon footprint even further (Jochen Schleese is already a million-miler with Air Canada – which is not necessarily a good thing!), we have started to produce and stream podcasts on a bi-weekly basis. Listen to the insights from some of our equine professional associates – veterinarians, bodyworkers, and physiotherapists (to name a few), as well as from some of our clients (who have some interesting stories to tell as well!). The links are as follows: https://schleese.com/podcast-series/ and https://saddlefit4life.com/saddlefit-4-life-podcast/. Watch for upcoming webinars as well!
Saddlefit 4 Life is also publishing a bi-weekly podcast and webinar series (release TBD) to viewers and listeners around the world, covering topics related to saddle fitting and equine welfare with guests such as equine vets, breeders, associations and more.
