Dale Hoeffliger –
My horse and I love this pad. It doesn’t slip and gives wither relief. Now I can use the plain pad for Riding to Hounds. I would like more padding under the seat area though as sometimes in the saddle for up to three hours following hounds.
Michelle J Powell (store manager) –
Glad to hear that you and your horse love the saddle pad and its inherent wither relief shape. I would like to caution you with respect to wishing there was more padding in the saddle pad under the seat area – the panel of the saddle itself takes care of this and serves as protection for the horse. If you were to add additional padding in the saddle pad it would change how the saddle fits the horse. We like to give the analogy of adding and extra pair of socks in your shoes to perhaps prevent blisters but the effect actually results in that the fit becomes too tight and is uncomfortable and not ideal for your foot. Extra saddle pad padding in not always the wisest choice – it is best to have your saddle checked by a certified saddle fit technician to determine if your saddle needs refitting if you are concerned your horse is not comfortable.
Thank you so much for your comments and we hope this helps you and others to choose wisely when it comes to selecting a saddle pad for their horse(s).
Cheers,
The Schleese Team
