As a teenager, Margaret began training with Dressage Canada – Hall of Fame Inductee, Dressage Master Dietrich Von Hopffgartenn in Vancouver, BC. While training with Dietrich, Margaret earned an Associate Arts Degree in Graphics Communication & Arts but left that career once Dietrich offered her a working student position. Shortly after, Margaret obtained teaching privileges at Southland Riding Club. In 1986 Margaret travelled to Cedar Valley, Ontario to volunteer at the 1986 World Dressage Championships and there she met Certified Master Saddler – Jochen Schleese of Schleese Saddlery Service. Margaret immediately saw the passion and dedication Jochen had for the long-term health of his client’s and became Schleese’s first Agent Organizer which she continues today. Also in 1986, Margaret was recruited as Barn Manager for historic dressage stable Country Quest Stables.
At Country Quest, Margaret obtained her Equestrian Canada Dressage Coach & Judge Status, won Canadian Dressage Owner & Riders Assoc. Rider & Horse Awards Basic to FEI levels, several BC Provincial Championships & Reserve Championships & a Canadian National Dressage Title. Behind the scenes, Margaret was Senior Representative & Provincial Director of British Columbia BC CADORA; Show Manager – The BC Provincial Dressage Championship & Chair of The 1991 Canadian National Dressage Championships, the first Federation Equestrian Internationale FEI – CDI World Cup Qualifier, west of Toronto.
To further her training, Margaret moved to Europe working for Bert Rutten – Coach of the Dutch Olympic Dressage Team in Hunsel, Netherlands and Johann Hinnemann, Individual Bronze – World Dressage Championships in Voerde, Germany. She also travelled to Saumur, France and rode at The French National Riding School with Colonel Christian Carde, Head Trainer of the Cadre Noir. After marriage, Margaret settled in NJ, raised a family and formed MKB Dressage & organized Carde to coach in the USA. Margaret currently trains with retired FEI 5 Star Judge Lilo Fore, EC Dressage Team Member- Nancy MacLachlan and Olympic Individual Gold Medalist – Christine Stuckelberger.
