My name is Jason Surnoski and I am an internationally classified grade II para-equestrian. I was diagnosed as an infant with Cerebral Palsy, Cerebral Palsy influences my movement and coordination as well as having an effect on my posture and balance.

In 2010 I started riding recreationally; already having had a competitive background as a goalie in special hockey and a pitcher in the silver medal game at the 2009 Special Olympics for baseball, my determination kicked in and I found myself competing and placing at local hunter/jumper shows.  My attention was eventually redirected to the sport of para-dressage, I found the precision and execution of dressage to be an incredible thing to experience and observe.  After researching para-dressage online, I knew this was something I wanted to strive towards.

I am currently ranked on Equestrian Canada, Para-Dressage National Team Program Development Squad, together with my partner Phoenix we will be trying our best to gain scores in 2019/2020 so that we can represent our country on the world stage at the 2020 Paralympics in Tokyo.

I would like to take a moment and thank Schleese Saddlery for their continued support, their saddle has put me into a more secure safer position and I fell like I am one with my horse, as Phoenix’s body has changed Schleese has been there to make the changes need to keep my partners back and body happy, I am so thankful for their sponsorship and continued support.
